Currently, I am a research assistant at the University of British Columbia’s School of Population and Public Health. I assist Dr. Slaunwhite at the Canadian Collaboration for Prison Health and Education (CCPHE) and the BC Provincial Overdose Cohort. I support several projects focused on overdose, substance use, incarceration and health inequities.

I worked as a psychometrist in a concussion rehab clinic, where I was part of the Post-Concussion Management Program (PCMP). I was part of a multidisciplinary team that provides assessment and treatment for people injured at work and who have a concussion due to their workplace injury. My duties included administering and scoring patients’ cognitive and behavioural assessments and conducting semi-structured client interviews. I helped teach patients strategies to manage their symptoms, improve cognitive functioning, and support recovery. Additionally, I instructed Tension Reduction Training (TRT) classes that involved teaching breathing exercises, meditation, mindfulness, and relaxation. Also, I taught education and cognitive classes at the clinic on topics such as working memory and assertive communication.

Conducting an Age-Friendly University Audit funded by Provost’s Strategic Grant Funding. The audit helped the University of the Fraser Valley receive an Age-Friendly University declaration.

My responsibilities included conducting a literature review, assisting with research design, helping with pre-registration on OSF, and 25 hours of coding qualitative data. I also learned to use the R programming language to compile data sets.
