Volunteer at Plenty of Plates

November 2022 - Present

I have been volunteering with Plenty of Plates (POP), which serves nutritious meals to the residents of Vancouver downtown eastside (DTES). POP operates by having companies volunteer for an evening of cooking and serving a delicious three-course meal to the DTES community. As a front-of-house volunteer, I train the volunteers for the evening and facilitate a welcoming and accepting environment for everyone.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

2019

When not working, I love to spend my time reading, hiking, scuba diving and travelling. Learning to scuba dive is something I am particularly proud of as I find it challenging but also a rewarding activity. I fell in love with scuba diving because it opens up much more of the world I can explore. When I am underwater, time is non-existent, and I forget about my to-do lists. Scuba diving is one of the few activities I do not struggle to be completely present and live in the moment. One of my favourite scuba diving experiences was diving off the island of Kauai, Hawaii, and I saw my first and only octopus. I have always wanted to see an octopus, but they are hard to see since they are afraid of humans and they are primarily nocturnal. Currently, I have done over 20 dives, spreading over four countries.
