Substance Misuse in Older Adults
December 2021 for PSYC 357
The substance misuse booklet reflects my future career goals as the booklet explains how to notice substance misuse in older adults. Since substance misuse in older adults can be mistaken for dementia and other mental health issues it is important for family and health care providers to be aware of the difference. I hope when I am a psychologist I will be able to help older adults get the most accurate diagnosis and care.
Teen Girl Physical Activity Brief
December 2021 for PSYC 343
The policy brief reflects my career aspirations as I hope my work as a future psychologist will have positive implications on people’s lives. In the policy brief, I researched ways to help adolescent girls become engaged in physical activity. Findings show that as girls mature they lose interest in being active despite the positive impact it has on their overall health and decreasing the risk for mental health disorders.
Intermediate Research Methods and Data Analysis
February 2022 for PSYC 301
I have included my Psyc statistical course here because I am very proud of my ability to complete it. In high school, I really struggled with math and it left me feeling petrified to take any course related to math in university. Through taking 301 I become proficient at using SPSS software for conducting data analysis and programming, such as doing ANOVA.
Literature Debate Paper: The Debate Over Flashbulb Memories
November 2021 for PSYC 325
The debate paper I wrote highlights the different viewpoints on flashbulb memories. This piece reflects my career aspirations as memory is an area of psychology that intrigues me, particularly memory consolidation. My paper debates the possibility of flashbulb memories occurring from different emotional states.
