Sidney Hoolsema

Currently, I am a research assistant at the University of British Columbia’s School of Population and Public Health. I assist Dr. Slaunwhite at the Canadian Collaboration for Prison Health and Education (CCPHE) and the BC Provincial Overdose Cohort. I am working on a five-year project that seeks to understand the Geography of Overdose.

I graduated with a BA in Psychology with Honors from the University of the Fraser Valley. My Honors research examined how stigma changes depending on the type of addiction someone has. I am passionate about decreasing stigma around addiction and incarceration and improving access to stigma-free health care.
